When is the best time to visit Tinos?
June and September have warm sea, long days and quiet villages. July and August are the liveliest months. Around 15 August the island is full of pilgrims, so book early. May and October are calm and green.

Tinos has no airport. High speed ferries from Rafina take about 2 hours, and ferries from Piraeus 3 to 5 hours. From Mykonos the crossing takes under an hour. Fly to Mykonos for the fastest route from abroad.
Tinos is one of the windiest Cyclades, and the meltemi blows from the north on many summer days. On windy days, the beaches on the south coast are calmer than those on the north.
On windy days stay south: Agios Sostis, Agios Fokas, Agios Ioannis Porto and Agios Romanos. On calm days, Kolymbithra and Livada on the north coast are wild and beautiful.
Pyrgos for its marble, Volax for its giant boulders, Kardiani and Isternia for the views, and the dovecotes along the way. Tinos has more than forty villages.
Buses are limited and taxis are few, so most visitors rent a car or book a driver. Village roads are narrow and winding, so a smaller car or a driver makes it easy.
